Nursery Production Worker
Nupqu Native Plants is a division of Nupqu Resource Ltd Partnership, a business owned by the Communities of the Ktunaxa Nation. We are located on ʔaqam Community Lands (at the north end, east of Kimberley). We are a nursery wholesaler for native plants.
This position provides you with training to identify native plant species, when and where to collect their seeds, if and how to stratify seeds, how to sow, water, weed and over all care each species.
Specific tasks and responsibilities for the Nursery Production Worker position will include, but are not limited to the following:
▪ Mixing, preparing soils, washing, and filling plant trays
▪ Cutting firewood and filling boiler with wood
▪ Sowing, Weeding, watering, and cleaning of plants ▪ Transplanting seedlings and rooted cuttings
▪ Pulling and preparing plants for shipment
▪ Packing plants for shipment, and loading plants for shipment
The nursery is a fast-paced environment, work can be repetitive, physically demanding and involve standing for long hours, lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
