Despite being hit with the economic impacts from Covid-19, ʔaq̓am Trading, has continued to perform strongly throughout the second half of this year. St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino has announced that it will be temporarily ceasing all operations, except for the Casino of the Rockies, for the winter season. The closure will take place on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12th. “We expected to see fewer guests this winter because of COVID-19 and this decision will now allow for St. Eugene to focus and plan for what we do extremely well, and that is offering a unique destination of choice in a historic setting during the spring and summer in the Kootenays,” stated Barry Zwueste, St. Eugene chief executive officer.
FortisBC, one of BC’s largest energy providers, has partnered with the well established Ktunaxa Nation-owned business, Nupqu, to provide the gas line project upgrades. Nupqu completed the site clearing for the FortisBC project, which included over 200 kilometers of gas line in the area, to cater for the implementation of state of the art in-line inspection tools through it.
Nupqu offers forestry, environment, safety consulting, and archeology services, as well as native plant cultivation to serve resource industries and utilities. Nupqu is a reliable prime contractor; our approach is to build the right team for the job, involving specialized expertise and local subcontractor relationships.
